There’s a book called “The Power of Myth”, which is a series of interviews with Joseph Campbell. He was a Comparative Religion professor at Sarah Lawrence College. He relates stories from all the different religions and mythologies of the world, and explains how they are pretty much all saying the same things. For example, most religions and mythologies have a flood story, such as the one told in the Bible about Noah and the Ark. He also talks a lot about Carl Jung and his theory of the collective unconscious. Jung believed that as humans evolved over the millenia their experiences became a part of the unconscious mind. It is separate from the personal unconscious, and we all share it. It’s a rather complicated theory, and my knowledge of it is rusty, so if you or your readers are interested, check it out. I’m sure there’s a wealth of info online. Maybe Santa will bring you “The Power of Myth” for Christmas. I think you’d really enjoy it.

I have heard of the collective unconscious. From my understanding we are all connected, we are all one. I remember a story from the bible where Jesus says something like, “I and the father are one.” For me, he is talking about that universal or collective consciousness where we all have access to universal knowledge which we all help to make up.

I found this cool quiz to take about your concept of God, the afterlife, human nature and more. After you take the quiz the results will tell you what religion you practice or should consider practicing. http://www.beliefnet.com/Entertainment/Quizzes/BeliefOMatic.aspx

Now that Santa brought you “The Power of Myth”, have you had a chance to read any of it? Just curious as to what you think about Campbell’s theories. He does believe that Jesus was a mythological character. I struggle with that, because on the one hand it makes perfect sense to me, but on the other hand, Jesus is so ingrained in our culture, that to deny his existence has real societal ramifications. I would feel terrible if he turned out to be really real when he allowed himself to be tortured and murdered in a barbaric way just for us. I used to have a Darwin fish, but I lost it. Maybe I should hold off on replacing it…lol.

I was reading it and lost interest after Campbell said he didn’t believe in life outside this planet. When I get a chance I will try and find where he said that and quote it back to you.

I didn’t think he talked about life outside earth, but I guess he did. If you don’t want the book can I borrow it? I’d like to read it again. I left my copy in Anderson, and it probably got sold in the auction.

I took the quiz and it showed that I should 100% be a practicing “Neo-Pagan”. I’m not sure exactly what that is; I’ll have to look it up. Ironically the very last one on the list was the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

I did some research and the largest “religion” in the Neo-Pagan category is Wicca. They believe that the divine is in all things: the trees, wind, earth, humans, and animals, etc. They also believe in what they call the “Law of Threes”, which means simply that whatever you send out into the world will come back to you three-fold, either positive or negative. I suppose this would apply not only to your actions, but to your thoughts as well. Here we see the idea that “like attracts like”. Wicca is a nature based religion, and I agreed with all the concepts I’ve read so far. The only thing I really take issue with is that they call themselves Witches. Their idea of witchcraft is far different than most people’s concept. It’s a very positive thing meant to bring them closer to the divine. Yet, just the word itself conjures up thoughts and images of evil and negativity – even though that’s the farthest thing from reality. If I decide to pursue Wicca more in depth, I will just have to be careful, because those who practice religious intolerance will say I’m a wicked Witch.

Just out of curiosity Todd: what religion did the quiz say you should be practicing?

Mine was New Age 100% and Neo-Pagan 97%. Don’t you think that is interesting that those of the same family seem to have pretty much the same belief’s, even tho they don’t discuss them…………and all evolved from the JW’s. Pehaps, Mums has more influence on her offspring than she realizes.

Maybe we should get together more often and discuss these things over dinner and drinks.

I agree. We should start discussing these things more often. Is “Mums” our mother? LOL I’m sure the JW would love to know they spawned our beliefs. Poor Dad would be turning in his grave if he hadn’t been cremated.

Mums is our mom. Dad is probably rejoicing. I am sure after he found out what really was the “truth” he is glad to see that none of us are affiliated with that religion anymore.

        2. Michelle

Yes, dad by now knows that the JW was not “The Truth”. I’m sure he’s glad we’re on the path we’re currently on, because if we can open ourselves up to spiritual awareness he might be able to communicate with us.

Have you ever watched that new show with Jesse Ventura called, “Conspiracy Theory”? It’s on the Tru TV channel. He uncovers all sorts of conspiracies. It’s pretty interesting. You should record it sometime if you haven’t already seen it.

I watch it regularly. The only thing I don’t like about it is that they seem to give you just enough information to get your attention. Unfortunately, I believe the primary focus is for entertainment purpose, not to really expose wrong doing.

I went to that website “ChannelingErik”, and they were discussing vibrational frequencies. Someone said that if you vibrate below (I think it was 200?) a certain number, you are susceptible to things like depression and bipolar disorder. I guess I am vibrating too slow. How can a person make themselves vibrate faster? It seems like the implication is that the higher the vibration, the higher the consciousness or whatever, and spirits are vibrating at an incredibly high rate, unlike rocks that are more stagnant. Maybe that’s what happened to the Mayans: their vibrational frequencies got so high they just vanished from the physical realm.

I’ve had success just by changing my attitude and general outlook on life. If you have read any of my Law of Attraction posts I recommend getting into “happy” feelings. The trick is to imagine a situation that you know will make you feel happy, and generally give you positive emotions. Picture that situation and try to get yourself to “feel” like it has already happened, like you are living in the moment. If you can do these exercises every day you will notice that your attitude will start to turn more positive. Try not to let any negative feelings dominate you, just acknowledge those feelings and move on to more uplifting thoughts and feelings. Diet and exercise can also help immensely. I plan on writing a post on those two things here soon…

I will try to feel happy/good all the time and see if eventually I just wake up feeling that way. One of the things that makes me really happy is hiking. Now that I have my stun gun I can go by myself. Nobody ever wants to go with me – they’re always too busy. I think it’s a terrible waste to live this close to the mountains and not take advantage of them. Lots of people would love to live where we do. Hiking is also good exercise. Actually I didn’t need to wait to get the stun gun to go – I could’ve taken Willie – he is a vicious, vicious guard dog that would rip the throat out of any would-be attacker!

The first sign of an attacker of mountain lion and it would be every being for him/herself. Willie would run and leave you to your own demise. I am writing a post about what you were referring too, how hiking makes you happy. It should be ready tonight or tomorrow.

It’s no secret to those who know me that I don’t set much store in the bible. However, I am willing to concede that some of those stories are probably based on fact. For example, take the story of Noah and the flood. There may well have been a huge flood that covered much of the region, and biblical people would have thought it covered the earth because they had yet to explore other countries, and continents, etc. But there are those believers that take these biblical stories totally literally (such as the JW). I don’t understand the rationale behind it, and I’d like someone to explain to me how the story of Noah and the flood can possibly be taken literally. I have always wondered about it, and when I was a child, I wasn’t allowed to question these things. Anyway, wouldn’t the Ark have to have been at least as big as an oil tanker to hold two of EVERY species of animal on earth? And what about animals that weren’t native to Noah’s area? Did he travel to the Arctic circle to gather up seals, penguins, and polar bears? Or maybe African and Asian elephants heard about the impending doom and showed up at Noah’s house right before the flood. Does anyone even know how many species of insects, birds, reptiles, and mammals there are on earth? What about the rain forest? Scientists say there are still species there they haven’t even discovered yet. And in all the chaos (because it had to have been chaotic with all those animals) how did Noah know he didn’t accidentally get a sterile panda bear from China? If they can’t procreate there go the pandas for all eternity. I mean, seriously. I know that people would say that God was guiding him in which animals to pick. Okay. Fine. And why have archaeologists never found any wood from such an enormous ship? So anyway… if anyone is up to the challenge of convincing me the story is true, please enlighten me. I look forward to the explanations.

I agree. I think the 10 Commandments are good rules to live by, and Jesus had some really wise advise on how to live life as a good person. I find it amusing though that so many people claim to be Christians, yet they do and say things that Jesus would have never approved. Those “WWJD” (“What Would Jesus Do”) bracelets are so popular, but do those who wear them really pratice that? The hypocrisy is pathetic.

While browsing through your pendulum experiment blog, I came across a link to a website called “A Clear Sign” by a woman named Julie. The link concerned mental health and spirituality. What I read was a guest post by Michael Pierich. He discussed possible spiritual causes of what we perceive to be mental illness. I have been very interested in the link between the spiritual realm and mental illness, because I have been diagnosed as having Bipolar I Disorder by pysch professionals, as well as Schizoaffective Disorder. To this day I still don’t really know for sure which disorder I have. I have symptoms of both, so who knows, maybe I suffer from both. I’m interested in learning exactly why I suffer from mental illness. Is it purely genetic? My maternal grandmother was schizophrenic. Is it environmental? I had a fairly normal upbringing considering I was raised in a cult (Jehovah’s Witnesses), and was continuously exposed to putzness (my younger, much less wise brother). Did I purposely incarnate into a human being who would become mentally ill? And if so, why? To repay some karmic debt? To learn some sort of valuable lessons?

Anyway, after becoming interested in New Age concepts many years ago, I began to wonder how mental illness fit into the big spiritual picture. Do we actually purposely incarnate to experience mental illness? Or is something else going on? According to Michael Pierich’s discussion, there are two possible spiritual explanations. First is what he calls “psychic organisms”, which are sort of like ethereal bacteria or viruses. They attach themselves to your psyche I guess, and proceed to wreak havoc. The second cause can be open portalways to past life experiences, where bits and pieces of past life memories filter through to your conscious mind – at least that was my understanding of what he meant. I intend to research all this in much more detail.

I’m also very interested in how mental illness is explained by astrology. I’ve googled it, and didn’t really find anything worth exploring. Does mental illness interfere with whatever is going on with us when it comes to astrology? I’m a Capricorn and have read innumerable descriptions of that sign, and never have I come across any mention of what the traits are for a mentally ill Capricorn. I plan to dig deeper into it. Somebody somewhere has to have posted this topic online.

I’d like to post a blog once I’ve done all the research I can, and hopefully better understand the true “reality” of what mental illness is, and why it afflicts so many people. Only through understanding can we begin the arduous task of healing.

I think half the battle comes from what we put into our bodies. You should try doing a good detox and cleaning up your diet. Eliminate any processed foods and stick with fruits, veggies and grains. Drink plenty of water and flush out all the garbage from your system.

Have you heard of or seen that new TV documentary on the Science channel called, “Through the Wormhole”? They explore different scientific theories concerning reality and how modern science is making strides in explaining previously unanswerable questions, such as “Does Time Really Exist?”, “Are There More Than 3 Dimensions”?, “Is There A Sixth Sense”? Unfortunately we don’t get the Science channel, so I’ve only seen the written descriptions of the shows. You probably get that channel, so if you haven’t checked it out, you should sometime. Do you have DVD recording capabilities on your TV? If so I’ll give you some blank DVD’s and maybe you can record that show for me.

My new EVP recorder has shipped and is on its way! Once I learn how to use it I will try to contact Dad and Jeremy. Next I think I’ll visit the cemetery down the road and see what I find. Eventually I want to go to the Stanley Hotel. I will write a post on my findings if I get anything interesting, although it may take me a while to get good at recognizing spirit voices and what they’re saying.

Have you read the essay on channelingerik about “The Shift”? It was written by Jim Self and describes what will happen in 2012. You can find it here: http://www.channelingerik.com/where-did-those-pesky-dimensions-go/

    There’s also a free e-book at Self’s website: http://www.masteringalchemy.com/
If you go to the Store tab and click on ebooks, you can download it. Of course you have to register, which is a pain in the ass, but still worth it.

In the essay he talks about how people will start to vibrate at higher frequencies in order to move into the 4th dimension. Maybe that has already started with you since you’re getting those OBE’s.

Starting and maintaining a blog isn’t that expensive. Typically the monthly costs for a hosting plan is less than $10. The cost of acquiring your domain name isn’t that much probably less than $20. The only real investment is your time which is what costs the most.

This morning I took another look at the David Icke book “Guide to the Global Conspiracy”. Initially I thought he was probably a crackpot, but now I’m not so sure. Although I’m reserving judgement on his reptilian theory until I’ve read more, his info on 9/11 makes a lot of sense, although I’ve only read 1 chapter on the subject. It got me to thinking about conspiracy theories in general, which led me to wonder about the current gun control debate. As I’ve stated elsewhere, I believe our Founding Fathers intended for us to have firearms to protect us from a tyrannical government, and our government’s efforts to control our access to them makes me wonder. If Icke’s theory is correct about an Orwellian-type world government, then that government certainly wouldn’t want us to have weapons with which to revolt. So it would stand to reason that somehow they’ve got to rid us of guns. It seems like things really started with Columbine, culminating with the Connecticut elementary school shootings. Killing 5-year-olds is a sure way to get the public behind the idea that we need gun control. Do you suppose there’s any truth to the theories of the government brainwashing people to commit these heinous acts in order to gain public support for their agenda? I think maybe there is. And it seems that most of the shooters either kill themselves or are killed by the police, thereby eliminating any possibility of them revealing any brainwashing they may have experienced. When they don’t die, as in the case of the Aurora theater shooter, they’re portrayed as being out of it or “crazy”, often acting all bizarre in court when the media cameras are allowed in. Anyway, that’s my two cents.

I am so proud of you Mitz. You are starting to see the “light,” so to speak. I believe many of these recent shooting are orchestrated by either shadow gov’t or some other entity of the gov’t in order to sway the public opinion on gun control. Just dig a little into the Sandy Hook tragedy and you will know what I mean. I will send you some links.

The ultimate goal to is to take our guns so we cannot defend ourselves against a tyrannical gov’t. Then they will collapse the dollar and make some type of one world currency that will be managed by the RFID chip that they will attempt to implant in all of us.

Once there is no more currency to exchange for goods the only chance for a person to survive is to take the chip and go to work. And if Johnny becomes a bad boy, with a few entries into a keypad, they just make the chip read zero and Johnny can’t buy a damn thing. So we either take the chip and become their worker slaves or we refuse and starve.

Think about this, where would you go if there were the case? How would you provide for yourself and your family? Where would you get land to at least try and become self sufficient? Remember the GMO seeds from Monsanto that are only good for one growing season?

I don’t doubt anything you’ve said, and nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to human nature, but what I’m struggling to comprehend is why the people (or reptilians if you agree with Icke) want to control everyone that way? Maybe it’s hard for me to understand because I’m totally not a controlling person. Is it all about power and/or money?

        1. Todd | Channelingmyself

I don’t think we will understand because we aren’t the controlling type. I’m not sure I agree with Icke about the reptilians.

i did some research and the largest “religion” in the Neo-Pagan category is Wicca.
