Chakras: You Are What You Think

This is a guest post by Mitz.

Many of you have probably heard of Chakras, but you may not know what they are. Are they important? Should you become familiar with them? Yes! Prior to my research for this post, I knew virtually nothing about them except that they are some sort of energy portals, but now I’ve come to realize how important they are. Okay, so what are they?

The word Chakra originates in Hindu texts and means “wheel” or “turning”. They are circular vortexes of energy (both transmitting and receiving), vertically aligned in the center of the body close to the spine, starting from the tail bone and ending at the crown of the head. They govern our psychological and physiological properties. The ones located at the lower part of the body are our instinctual side and the higher ones our mental side.

The very same energy vibrates on all of these energy levels, however when this energy reaches the Chakras, it’s being transformed accordingly, so that different qualities of that particular one are attained. Some are not open enough (under-active), and to compensate others are over-active. Ideally they should be balanced. Besides the physical body we have invisible vehicles whose inherent qualities are responsible for our conscious manifestation in the world of forms; their purpose is to prepare the soul to eventually return to its Origin transformed and fully consciously developed.

One of these inner bodies and the closest to the physical corporeality, is the Etheric Body, which consists of 7200 energy channels (can you imagine having to remember them all??) and 7 main Chakras (aka “Energy Centers” or “Wheels of Light”). These 7 Chakras have a close correspondence with the 7 glands of the Endocrine System. In fact, the Chakras are not actually present in the physical body at all – they are physically represented by the glands. Their energy flow governs the functioning of the glandular system to bring the crucial parts of the human microcosm in cooperation, enabling normal psychological and physiological response. This may be a bit confusing, so an internet search may be in order if you’d like more information.

An in-depth discussion of the Endocrine System is beyond the scope of this post. Also, for much more detailed information about Chakras than I have provided, you can search “Kundalini yoga chakras”, Hinduism, etc. I have tried to provide a basic understanding of the 7 Chakras, because Chakra Healing holds the key to virtually everything you’ve ever wanted in life! You may want to take a test to check the “health” of your Chakras as you read about each one: http://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/chakratest.php. So let’s get to it:

Okay…so now what? I’m sure you recognized aspects of yourself, both positive and negative, in the various Chakras. How do you go about healing them? Some good techniques can be found at: http://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/open.php. Some specialists use Color Therapy, which includes healing lamps, colored liquids, color visualization/meditation, and/or wearing the corresponding colored clothing or crystal/gemstone jewelry. Maybe another post will come to a Channeling Myself blog near you discussing Chakra Healing in-depth. Meanwhile, a wealth of information can be found online.

To conclude our discussion of Chakras, I think one of the most important things you need to remember is the “Law of Attraction”. (Please see other posts for more detailed information on this law.)

How thought affects our Chakra Energy: with every thought there is a reaction, which can either energize you or decrease your life force. Here’s how it works:

You have a negative thought:

Brain: electricity of brain changes.

Meridians (channels through which life force flow): due to changes of brain electricity, meridian energy changes.

Organs: organs connected with the meridians aren’t properly nourished with vital energy and disease develops.

Chakras: the astral energy feedback changes in the Chakra – this bad thought has less vitality as it is out of the cosmic tune. A block in the Chakra occurs.

Aura: energy of the aura drains; its colors become dull & the auric protection shield gets weaker; negativity from outside can pour in.

Law of Resonance/Law of Attraction: when negative thoughts are radiated to the environment, all thoughts on that morphogenetic field will be attracted. Negativity becomes stronger and happens more often.

So should we all become like Pollyanna? The answer is yes. You know that saying, “You are what you eat”? Well, You Are What You Think.

I know right? I took the test and if I remember correctly all of mine are imbalanced. Right now I’m working on a post for gemstone therapy, so some people may want to try that type of healing. You have dad’s ruby ring don’t you? As an example of gemstone healing, ruby is good for the following: disconnection to others, wounds of the heart, emotional exhaustion, mild depression, physical conditions being exacerbated by emotional issues, and a tight or closed heart chakra.

One interesting thing I noticed while viewing a color therapy chart, is that if you start at the 1st Chakra and go to the 7th, the associated colors spell out “ROY G BIV”. Remember in school that’s how we were taught to remember the names in the color spectrum/rainbow? I’m not sure if there’s any significance to that, but I thought it was interesting.

The first time I heard about chakras is from a film. Knowing that this can be measured, is a bit worrisome for me yet I think it is necessary if I want to know which among my chakras need development.

Don’t let it be worrisome for you. The more information you have concerning your life’s issues, the better prepared you’ll be to address them.

Balancing your chakras is really very important as the balanced chakras allow the energy to flow through your body without any hindrance. The misaligned chakras are the root cause of our problems both physical and mental. An reiki practitioner trained in manipulating the energy flow of energy can assist you in getting misaligned chakras back to functioning properly.

      Hi Chenlyn,
You pose a really good question: how to balance them? I would have included that information, but it would have made the post much too long (people tend to have a short attention span lol). I think another post on balancing the chakras is in order. I’ll start working on it ASAP. Thanks for the suggestion, and I’m glad you found the pose informative.

    Hey Mitz,

You’ve thrown some great insights here. I briefly knew about energy chakras before, but this post is so much more detailed and informative. I also learnt previously that there are several yoga related postures and mudras that help to cure imbalances of these energy chakras. Special types of Meditation exercises also exist that are quite useful.

I just wonder. Some claim to experience a beautiful connection with pure conscience and the divine. Some claim to just “trip for fun” when bored. I would definitely say I use them for the first reason. But when one is under a substance that alters their conscience … what Chakra/s are they working with? What are the other ones doing?

    1. Mitz

That’s an interesting question: how to drugs influence the chakras? One of the addictions associated with the 3rd Eye is hallucinogens, so my guess would be that substances such as LSD and mescaline would affect that chakra. As to what the others are doing, I’m not sure, but when one chakra is out of balance they are all affected.

I’m a Reiki Practitioner and Master Teacher. I used to make everything more complicated that it needs to be. Now I know that I just need to set the intention to activate and balance the chakras and it’s done. You can even dowse or muscle test to check them after you’ve done the visualization. give it a try!
