In previous posts regarding the Law of Attraction I have stressed the importance of changing your attitude if you want to see your desires made into reality. Making the LOA work for you requires constant attention to your thoughts, thus making necessary adjustments throughout the day. Really what it boils down to is how bad do you want to manifest your wishes? If you want to succeed you must understand one cardinal rule when it comes to the law of attraction, “As a man thinks in his heart, so he is…” (Proverbs 23:7). This famous proverb, according to Wikipedia, was the influence for the literary essay, “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen. The thoughts and ideas you hold in your mind each day have been a key factor in creating the person you are at this point in your life.
Every man is where he is by the law of his being; the thoughts which he has built into his character have brought him there, and in the arrangement of his life there is no element of chance, but all is the result of a law which cannot err. This is just as true of those who feel “out of harmony” with their surroundings as of those who are contented with them. (As a Man Thinketh)
To better comprehend this “law” we need to realize how the mind works between our conscious thoughts and our sub-conscious reactions. Most of us have heard that our minds are divided between the conscious and the sub-conscious, but how many of us really understand how these two parts are in harmony with each other? Our conscious mind is what is responsible for logic and reasoning; you are using your conscious mind right now while reading this. The subconscious mind is responsible for involuntary actions like our heartbeats and our breathing. Our sub-conscious mind never rests, it functions round the clock and it blindly accepts its instructions from the conscious mind. The conscious mind is like the general in the army barking out orders to the subordinate soldiers (sub-conscious mind). Those subordinate soldiers obey their commander without question, never asking or challenging whether those orders are right or wrong. Likewise, the sub-conscious mind never questions the instructions from the conscious mind. Therefore, the thoughts that continually permeate our conscious minds are delivered to our sub-conscious minds without any type of purification process regarding our wants and needs. If we continuously have negative thoughts and feelings our sub-conscious mind does not act in our best interest but merely forwards the information on. In short, the sub-conscious mind, through the infinite consciousness that resides in all of us, sends our thoughts out to the universe attracting back to us what we have manifested in our minds with our thoughts and feelings.
There are many people today who have found themselves in situations they don’t want to be in, whether it is financial debt, a failed relationship, or a dead end job. They presumably feel trapped in their circumstances, almost as if they were a hamster running inside one of those exercise wheels. No matter how fast they run, their lives remain in the same set of circumstances. Unfortunately, these people will continue down that same ominous path because they fail to see who is really responsible for their predicaments (hint: themselves). The easy and most accepted justification is to continually blame someone else or some unfortunate set of events for why things are going so badly, might as well Blame It On The Rain. However, once these individuals begin to understand the creative power of their minds they can turn their lives around and start attracting the desires they want. It all starts with obeying that cardinal rule, as a man thinketh, and paying constant attention to their thoughts and feelings. If you would like to make the law of attraction work for you, be sure to monitor your thoughts each day and accept that only you have the power to change the way you think and feel.
