Spirit Goggles

Reincarnation is the belief that after the body dies the soul lives on and returns to the spiritual realm, then returns to the earth realm to once again inhabit another body with a new life.  The belief in reincarnation has been around for thousands of years especially in religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism.  It wasn’t until I started down the path of New Age philosophy that I gained a solemn interest in the belief of multiple lives.  New Age teachings tell us that each lifetime a soul experiences adds to that soul’s overall knowledge, thus bringing that soul closer to absolute enlightenment.  A soul reincarnates back to the earth realm for a specific reason, whether it be to learn a certain life lesson, to fulfill a soul contract, or some other reason.  But just remember, there is a specific purpose for a soul reincarnating back to the earthly realm.  And it is this eternal soul striving for complete enlightenment that I want to share with you.

Each one of us is a spirit inhabiting a fleshly body; therefore we should carefully consider how we perceive those around us.  Let me elaborate.  I have mentioned in another post how I love watching documentaries, and some of those can include conspiracy theories.  The conspiracy theories can range from global warming to 9/11, and most programs tend to always point a finger at some group or individual who is behind it all.  I’m not going to get into the how’s and the why’s of these conspiracy theories, but it is the “who is behind it” that I want to discuss.

The other night I was watching Jesse Ventura’s show “Conspiracy Theory” about global warming.  When the part of the program came to where one individual was pointed out as being the ultimate con behind it all I felt my blood beginning to boil.  I wanted to see the score settled with this man.

Make no mistake, it’s not revenge he’s after. It’s a reckoning.
Val Kilmer (as Doc Holiday), Tombstone.

There are many problems facing the world and humanity today, and behind many of these dilemmas is some corporation, wealthy family, or greedy tycoon that seems to be responsible for the crisis.  I’m sure there are many people out there who loathe the Bush and the Rockefeller families, billionaire CEOs, corrupt politicians, lobbyists, or perhaps some Wall Street crook like Bernard Madoff.  Believe me; I used to wish very bad things on these kinds of people because I saw them as the cause for the world being in the shape it is today.  However, even though I still view these groups and individuals as being chiefly responsible for many of the predicaments we as humanity face, I couldn’t help but to start viewing them in a different way.

While I was watching “Conspiracy Theory” and they showed the person behind the global warming money scheme I had a change of heart.  Instead of hating and wanting to see that person get what he had coming, I saw him as a spirit inhabiting a physical body.  In the first paragraph of this post I talked about spirits reincarnating to the earth realm for a purpose, this goes for everyone, even people like Dick Cheney.  I can’t imagine a spirit incarnating to a human body just to be an evil, greedy, SOB who cares nothing for the general welfare of humankind.  And even if it were so, you have to understand there is a reason for it; perhaps it is a lesson that needs to be learned by that soul.  The prospect of multiple lives means someone like you or I may have been one of these greedy, power hungry individuals in another lifetime.  Hell, for all I know I could have been Hitler in another lifetime.  I know it sounds farfetched but the possibility is there.

As I search within myself for answers that elude me, I have opened up doors within my soul that I never knew were there.  I no longer hate but love.  I try to view every person as a spirit rather than just another person on this planet.  Each soul is here for a specific reason, and unless you can say you know what that reason is, try not to be swift with your judgment.  I don’t want to send the message that I excuse these people for their corruption; I am just saying put on your spirit goggles and try considering them as spirits working towards their individual enlightenment.

When it comes to reincarnating, sometimes the lessons we’re here to learn, or the karmic debts we must pay, are negative; and it stands to reason that other souls have reincarnated to provide us that negativity. For example, say for whatever reason one of my lessons in this life is to be molested as a child. There must be a soul who is willing to reincarnate to be my molester.

I’ve always wondered if multiple karmic debts can be fulfilled by intense suffering during reincarnation. Take the holocaust: 6 million Jews were annihilated, along with homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and others considered “deviants”. (Not even I dislike Jehovah’s Witnesses that much.) Why did those 6+ million souls decide to suffer in such a terrible way? Why would someone reincarnate to be a victim of a serial killer, who is mercilessly tortured before the welcome release of death? Could it be that those souls have many lessons to learn and one way to get them over with, so to speak, is to greatly suffer during one incarnation? And since there must be a Hitler to kill all those souls, and there must be a serial killer to torture that poor victim, are those souls also fulfilling multiple karmic debts? If a soul incarnates many, many consecutive times as a victim of suffering, does that soul eventually have to (or get to, depending on how you look at it) become a “bad person” in one of its lives? How was it decided who would be Genghis Khan, Dick Cheney, and Hitler? Does the amount of suffering in life correspond to the lessons you must learn or the karmic debt(s) you have? (I’m not sure what a soul contract is, but take that into consideration as well.) If physical and/or emotional suffering doesn’t depend on these things, then why would anyone choose a life in Darfur as opposed to a shitty, but relatively comfortable, life in the United States? Or better yet, life as Prince William, who let’s face it, has it pretty good.

Are we able to “take it easy” in some incarnations? Like incarnating as a celebrity, royalty, or a very wealthy person. My life hasn’t been horrible, but sometimes I wish I could be Queen of England or a famous entertainer for a few days. Nobody’s life is perfect, however, so I know even people of priviledge have their own form of suffering. Still, it would be nice…

Since I began believing in reincarnation many years ago, I’ve had these questions. I know that people have their opinions and some believe they have the answers to these questions, but ultimately, are we meant to know?

BTW Todd, what exaclty is a soul contract?

A soul contract is just what you were referring too. If you are to be the molested child and another soul is to be the perp then that would be a soul contract. At least that is my understanding.

Well Todd you have me thinking again. One would hope there are not spirits here just to evil…but who know because there sure is a lot of evil.

      Hey Valerie,

I don’t believe in evil spirits, but I do think there are spirits that stay in that lower energy vibration. Thanks for the comment.

REINCARNATION: EVIDENCE FROM NON-JEWS WHO BECOME JEWISH
    By Rabbi Allen S. Maller

A rather unusual form of evidence for reincarnation comes from the Jewish mystical tradition; the Kabbalah. Unlike Buddhism and Hinduism, Kabbalah does not teach that reincarnation (gilgul) occurs over the course of millions of years to millions of different sentient species. According to Kabbalah, only the souls of self conscious moral creatures like human beings reincarnate; and they reincarnate only when they have not fulfilled the purpose of their creation. Since Judaism is an optimistic religion, most Kabbalists teach that most people can accomplish their life’s purpose in one or two lifetimes. A few souls may take 3-5 lifetimes or more. The bright souls of great religious figures like Moses or Miriam can turn into dozens of sparks that can reincarnate several times. The tragic souls of Jews whose children have been cut off from the Jewish people, either through persecution or conversion to another religion, will reincarnate as one of their own no longer Jewish descendants. These descendant souls will seek to return to the Jewish people. A majority of people who end up converting (or reverting) to Judaism and the Jewish people have Jewish souls from one of their own ancestors.
Every human on earth has 8 great grandparents and 16 great great grandparents. Each of these 24 individuals contributes an equal amount of genetic material to their descendants. Nevertheless, brothers or sisters who share the same 24 ancestors do not have identical genomes. Unless they are identical twins their physical, mental and personality traits always differ, sometimes greatly, from siblings who share the same physical genetic heritage. This difference is the result of the unique physical combination of genes that occurs at conception; and the unique soul that enters the body sometime during the second trimester.
Every year many hundreds of people find out that one or two of their 24 ancestors might have been Jewish.. For most of them this discovery is an interesting fact of little significance. For many of them it might be an embarrassment to be ignored. But for some of them it becomes a life changing discovery. They feel drawn to Jewish people and seek to learn about Jewish music, food, literature, culture and religion. They feel more and more attached in some mysterious way to the Holocaust and the struggle of Israel to live in peace in the Middle East. Many of these people eventually are led to become Jewish either by formal conversion or by informal reversion within Reform synagogues.
According to a mystical 14th century Jewish Kabbalistic teaching found in Sefer HaPliyah, those people who do feel this powerful attraction to Jewish things and Jewish people, have Jewish souls that are reincarnations (gilgulim) of one of their own Jewish ancestors from 3-7 generations in the past. That explains why they react to the discovery of some Jewish heritage in such a unusual way. It also explains why some people who do not even know that they have Jewish ancestors follow a similar path; and only discover a Jewish ancestor years after they have returned to the Jewish people.
The Hebrew word for reincarnation is gilgul which means recycling. Many people are born with new souls who are here for the first time. Others have a soul that has lived on this planet before. Many people do not reincarnate after their life on this earth is over. Most people who end up becoming Jewish, especially now, after the Jewish people have experienced several generations of assimilation, marriage to non-Jews, hiding from anti-semitism and outright genocide, are descendants of people whose children, in one way or another, have been cut off from the Jewish People. Among their non-Jewish descendants a few will inherit a Jewish soul that will seek to return to the Jewish people.
If you think you might have an ancestor who was Jewish, but no one in your family seems to know, you can use a introspective personality and character test to give you some hints.
1- Do you like to ask questions especially about religion? But when you asked them as a child, you were told faith is a gift from God and you shouldn’t question it. This never satisfied you, although others didn’t question it.
2- The trinity never made any sense to you even as a young child. You prayed to God the father more easily than Jesus, the son of God, even though you were told to pray to Jesus. You never could believe that people who didn’t believe in Jesus couldn’t go to Heaven.
3- On first learning of the Holocaust you reacted more emotionally than your friends or other members of your family. You feel some sense of connection with the Jewish struggle to defend Israel.
4- You have an attraction to Jewish people, or to Judaism and Jewish culture. You have always been more  open to people who were culturally, nationally or religiously different from your own family, than your friends or class mates.
If you answer yes to three of these four items you probably have Jewish ancestors. Many, but not all, people who answer yes to all four items will be interested in learning more about their Jewish roots. If you become very interested in studying Judaism you might have a Jewish soul. According to Jewish mystical teachings (Kabbalah), many (not all) people reincarnate after they die. This is especially true for Jews who died and had no Jewish children who survived them (Sefer HaPliyah). Their souls reincarnate in one of their non-Jewish descendants who is drawn to: Jewish things, Jewish people and Judaism. If the following item also applies to you, you certainly have a Jewish soul.
5- When you start to learn about Judaism: the ideas and values seem reasonable to you; the traditions and heritage are very attractive to you; and the non-Jews around you as well as you yourself, are surprised that you slowly come to feel that you are coming home.
