I have often been asked how can we increase our spiritual awareness, or how do we become more receptive to spiritual messages. How can we open up our ability to channeling? Although I don’t consider myself an expert I have done enough research to know that experts will say, start with meditation. Meditation can help you in many ways, but for now we are concerned with the spiritual benefits. Meditating helps you to quiet your mind; it helps you to control all of that endless mind chatter that can overwhelm you at times. Practicing meditating will help you to put your brain into the theta state, which is 3-7.5 Hertz. When your brain is in the theta state spiritual awareness/ability is thought to be at its highest. There are many types of meditation techniques and an abundance of information on the Internet on how to practice those techniques. For me, I prefer a method known as breath watching.
Breath watching is pretty much what the name says; you are just focusing on your breathing. Find a quiet place where you can relax without any interruptions, preferably a comfortable chair. Close your eyes and focus your attention on your breathing. Try breathing through your nose it helps to maintain the correct balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your blood. Your goal is to have your attention solely on your breathing. If your mind wonders or a random thought pops into your head, just acknowledge that thought and re-focus your attention back to your breathing. How long you want to go depends on you. Try for at least 5 minutes a day until you get better at keeping your mind clear. It is important not to worry too much about the time you spend meditating rather the quality of each session. However, once you get comfortable with it you will probably find that 15-20 minute daily sessions will be quite beneficial.
If you want to add an additional tool to your meditation sessions try listening to brainwave frequency recordings like binaural beats or iso-chronic tones. You can find many recordings on youtube or you can purchase high quality recordings at The Unexplainable Store.
